Brazilian goalkeeper Rafael seems set to remain at Cagliari and the parties will reportedly sit down after the current campaign to sort out his future in Sardinia.
Tuttomercato web claims the 38-year-old, whose current contract expires this month, has agreed to extend until August 31 this year.
The former Hellas Verona goalkeeper looks set to stay as Robin Olsen’s future seems to be elsewhere and the report claims he will sit down to renew with the Rossoblu in August.
Roma has previously been linked with the Brazilian, who could replace his compatriot Daniel Fuzato as a back-up in the Italian capital.
But if Olsen decides to leave Cagliari after the current season, Rafael could be given an opportunity to extend his career in Sardinia and get more responsibility for the 2020-21 season at the Casteddu.

Cagliari have an identity
Cagliari may have gone six games without a win after their 1-1 draw with Sassuolo, but Walter Zenga believes his team now have an ‘identity’.
Cagliari managed to battle back with 10 men against a high-flying Sassuolo side, and Zenga praised his squad for playing with ‘focus and humility’.
“I’m happy because we played against a great team who had lots of attempts on goal against teams like Juventus,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“In the first half, we were too passive and deep. In the second half, the lads responded well and perhaps the red card helped us in that it gave us the strength to come back.
“The boys played with focus and humility, and with a bit more in our tanks, we could’ve done even better.
“We played against a team with a solid structure and a great coach who has been working with them for two years.
“I‘ve been coaching this team for a month and what I was able to do was give them an identity.
“It’s also worth remembering that I have only three midfielders available, which is why I asked my guys to wait for our opponents in the first half.
“There are always objectives to reach, among them reaching 47 points. However, we have top teams coming up.”
